Crypton Cleaning Guide
This document provides cleaning instructions for Crypton fabrics, highlighting that their moisture-resistant nature makes cleaning easy.
Everyday Spills:
- Remove debris and spills with a dry cloth.
- Wipe with clean water. For stubborn stains, use a powdered enzyme laundry detergent mixed with water.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
General Cleaning:
- Clean every three months in high-abuse areas to prevent dirt and dust buildup.
- Powdered enzyme detergents (like Tide or Cheer) mixed with water are recommended.
- Thorough rinsing with clear water is crucial.
- Professional hot water extraction with a prespray is effective.
- Upholstery cleaning foam is the least effective method.
Stubborn Stains:
- General Method for Stubborn Stains on Prints: Make a paste with enzyme detergent, let it sit, then agitate with a stiff nylon brush.
- Ballpoint Pen Ink: Rust remover can be effective. Apply, let sit for 2-3 minutes, scrub gently, blot, and rinse thoroughly. Follow general cleaning instructions.
- Chewing Gum, Grease, Tar: Harden with ice, carefully scrape off, then follow general cleaning instructions.
- Mayonnaise and Oily Stains on Wovens: Use rubbing alcohol. Apply, let sit for 2-3 minutes, scrub gently, blot, and rinse thoroughly. Follow general cleaning instructions using enzyme detergent or hot water extraction.
- Ballpoint Pen Ink on Wovens: Use Q-Tips wetted with rubbing alcohol (be careful not to spread). Rinse thoroughly and follow general cleaning instructions.
Important Notes:
- Always test stain removers on a hidden area first to check for dye transfer or color change.
- Solvent-based cleaners are unnecessary and can damage fibers; avoid them for general maintenance.
- Diluted bleach (4 parts water to 1 part bleach) can disinfect Crypton but must be removed quickly and completely to prevent fading.
