About Wallpaper Part II
CRYPTON HOME
What is Crypton Home Fabric?
Crypton Home utilizes the same “repel and release” technology as Crypton, but it is tailored for use in the home. Each fiber of Crypton Home is encapsulated with our patented technology through an immersion process, so it never breaks down its resistance to stains, moisture, and odors.
CRYPTON HOME
What makes Crypton Home different from other Crypton fabrics?
Crypton Home is processed without an integrated moisture barrier, and should be specified in suitable environments.
NANOTEX
Can Nanotex be applied to a fabric that has already been Teflon treated?
Yes, the heat used in the Nanotex process breaks through the Teflon finish and gives the fabric additional protection.
NANOTEX
Can Nanotex be applied to velvets, chenilles, silks, or suedes?
No, due to the high heat used during processing, these fabrics would be damaged.
NANOTEX
Why can’t Nanotex be applied to pieces measuring less than 5 yards?
Due to the speed of the process, pieces less than 5 yards will bow or tear. As an alternative, we can offer a Greenshield finish. Greenshield is basically the same as Nanotex, but is done at a slower speed, so the fabric is not damaged.
NANOTEX
Will Nanotex change the hand or shade the fabric?
Due to the high heat used during processing there is always a possibility that the hand may change, or that shading may occur, but it is not always the case. If the finisher thinks there may be a problem, they will contact us prior to processing the fabric.
NANOTEX
Can Durablock finish be applied without Nanotex?
No, without Nanotex, moisture can accumulate and cause mold. The Durablock option is available in the system for those items that are sold with a Nanotex finish pre-applied.
TEFLON
How long does Teflon protection last after application?
Teflon protection should last through approximately 10 cleanings; Brushing or vacuuming will not impact the coverage.
TEFLON
Can additional Teflon be added over an existing stain repellant?
Adding more Teflon does not provide additional protection; one coating is sufficient.
TEFLON
Do patterns that already have “soil and stain release” finish need to have a Teflon finish applied?
No, the soil and stain release finish is an unbranded version of Teflon, and works the same way.
TEFLON
Will Teflon change the hand or shade the fabric?
No, Teflon does not affect the hand or the color of the fabric as it is a clear, non-abrasive chemical.
TEFLON
Can Teflon be applied to silk fabrics?
Yes, a non-water based (solvent) Teflon finish is used for silks.
TEFLON
Can Teflon be applied to Ultrasuede or Novasuede?
No. Suede (genuine or Ultra/Novasuede) has the inherent properties of Teflon. Liquid will bead up for a few moments, which allows the fabric to be blotted quickly with a clean, dry cloth.
FLAMEPROOFING
If a fabric already has Teflon finish applied, would flameproofing the fabric for NFPA 701 on the face have any impact on the effectiveness of the Teflon?
There is a small impact to the face of the fabric. However, approximately 80% of the Teflon finish remains on the fabric after the FR treatment is applied.
If NFPA 260 is applied as a topical treatment, it also leaves approximately 80% of the Teflon finish.
FLAMEPROOFING
Is UFAC Class 1 the same as NFPA260?
Yes, these Flame Code Specifications are comparable to each other. This is an FR finish for upholstery use.
FLAMEPROOFING
Do Crypton fabrics pass ASTME-84 for wall application?
No.
FLAMEPROOFING
Would fabrics made of 100% Avora/ Trevira Polyester need to be flameproofed?
No, these fabrics are inherently flame resistant so they meet all FR codes.
FLAMEPROOFING
Can Crypton fabrics be used vertically to pass FR NFPA 701?
No. Crypton is used for upholstery and passes NFPA260. Full pieces can be ordered without Crypton so that the fabric can be flameproofed for vertical use.
How long will a double process take?
Double processes generally are 2-3 weeks for completion, though this can vary depending upon the processes involved.
OTHER
Can additional Acrylic Backing be applied over an existing Acrylic Backing?
Yes, additional backing will add more stability and strength to the fabric.
OTHER
Can indoor fabrics be finished in some way to make them suitable for outdoor use?
No, this is not possible.
